Metallic Accent Powders and Supplies - Pure Pigment Accent Powders

Pure pigment mica powders add a metallic sheen to your projects without added filler or dyes.

These translucent powders can be used with most water based products including Memories Chalk and Dye inks, Jacquard Neopaque paints, Jo Sonja Polyurethane varnish, a protective wax such as Minwax natural and more. The best part is they clean up with soap and water.

How to use the Metallic Accent Powders

Using these powders is easy and you can achieve an exquisite metallic sheen. Experimenting is half the fun of using theses pigment powders. You can adjust the amount of the metallic sheen by adding more or less powder. The powders are non-toxic and clean up with soap and water.

You can use these powders mixed with other mediums but if you choose to use them without one it's best to use it with the stamp and stick heat activated glue so it has a binding agent to adhere to the surface. Most people have found that the lighter powders show up better when used with the black stamp and stick heat-activated glue but some of the deeper powders work well with the white stamp and stick heat-activated glue.

These are some of the great ways you can use these wonderful powders:

Using a small spatula or craft mixing stick combine some powder in a palette cup or paper plate with your favorite color Memories Chalk or Dye inks. Apply to the gourd or other material with a sponge applicator, brush or other applicator and then heat set with an embossing heat tool.
Experiment by mixing the powders with various color inks to come up with a unique custom color palette...like I said before experimenting is half the fun of using these powders. Try using complimentary colors of ink and powder and then try a dark ink with a lighter color powder, the combinations are limited by your imagination!
Mix the powders with your favorite water-based paint such as the Neopaque acrylic paints and apply to the gourd or other material with a brush or other applicator.
Apply stamp and stick heat activated glue to the surface and heat set for 10-20 seconds until the glue is tacky. Apply some powder over the glue with a soft brush and then gently wipe off excess powder with a cloth.
You can even mix the powders with Jo Sonja Polyurethane varnish and apply directly to the gourd or other material.
Be sure to apply a varnish such as Jo Sonja Polyurethane varnish over the powders when you are finished.

Memories Chalk Ink and Dye Ink - premium, permanent, all-surfaces stamping ink. Unlike alcohol-based inks, they are water-based, non-toxic, semi-transparent, fade-resistant, water based, will not streak or dry too quickly. For more intense color you can heat set the color and then go over it again with the ink. They are easy to blend so you can make custom colors. You can use different applicators such as a sponge, wool daubers, cotton tipped applicators, Taklon micro detail brushes Microbrushes or the foam or felt applicator cubes I carry.

Check out all the applicators & brushes. These inks can be used on leather, gourds, paper, clay and can be mixed with the metallic dye ink or the Lumiere metallic paints. They can be used to cover the entire surface of the gourd or used for accents. The sky's the limit so just use your imagination. A light sprits with water will refresh inkpads. Highly concentrated...a little goes a very long way...1/2 oz. bottle covers approximately 100 gourds (5 -6 size). Don't forget to buy a embossing heat tool to dry and set the ink! The gourd pictured on the left was done with Barn Red and Cherry Red using a "pouncing" motion with a sponge applicator. 	Palette Stamp and Stick Glue Pad Kit Contains Glue pad & 1/2 oz. Refill Bottle - White It is a white (clear), heat-activated adhesive solution for applying metal leaf, glitter, metallic pigments, embossing, accent or chalk powders or to a rubber stamped image. Create dynamic effects for scrapbooks, cards, home decor items, gourd art and so many other applications. The Stamp and Stick Glue is suitable for all types of surfaces. You can apply this glue to the Stamp & Stick Glue Pad, applicator cubes or you can use it with a paint brush for intricate areas. Use the refill replace your depleted glue on your applicator cube. You must heat set the glue with a embossing heat tool until the glue is no longer shiny (about 10-20 seconds), it will be sticky to accept your dry mediums. This is the NO MUSS, NO FUSS way. The glue pad in the kit comes wet with glue and just use the refill when the glue has been used up on the pad. Tips for using the glue: 1. FYI: when the directions say heat until tacky...it actually means heat to activate. I have found that it is virtually impossible to overheat it; you're more likely to burn your paper. However, this also means that it must be heat set all the way. Any patches of wet ink will cause whatever media you apply to it, to smear. 2. When you're working with gold leaf, pearl powders and chalks, we have found that these can be applied to a variety of surfaces. The gold leaf looks especially brilliant on black linen paper, but it can also be used on glass, gourds, plastic, a leather picture album, finished and un-finished wood. 3. Glitter, however must be used on a non-porous surface. Of all the media that we are talking about, glitter is the one that wants to stick the least. It needs that extra oomph, if you will, to hold. 4. So, when starting, stamp your image with the glue pad or applicator cube and heat to activate. This usually takes between 20-30 seconds, depending on the size of the image. When done, check to make sure that there aren't any spots of wet ink, and then apply your media.
